Young Arts brings art to challenged children where there are no art programs in place. Teaching artists, who work with Young Arts, inspire sick, disabled, injured, and dying children to release their creative spirit in art programs held at three hospitals, a rehab center, and a respite care center associated with Hospice of the Valley. All these medical facilities have galleries to showcase the children’s art.
Our programs are profoundly valuable to children who are ill, disabled, and have life limiting diseases. The workshops provide a safe place for children to express difficult emotions, take their minds off their pain and discomfort, and increase their self-esteem.
Young Arts also collaborates with Maricopa County Juvenile Justice System to bring art workshops to two detention centers in Phoenix and Mesa. The children, who are greatly at risk, benefit tremendously from being able to release their creativity and have an antidote to aggression, fear and anxiety.
Art from this program is exhibited in the Maricopa and Pima County court systems.
