In late 2010, Young Arts teaching artist, Tom Cooper, facilitated a workshop for siblings of terminally ill children at Ryan House. He inspired the kids to create West African "adinkra" patterns using pastel watercolor resist technique.
Ryan House is dedicated to pediatric palliative care, which is focused on enhancing quality of life for child and family, minimizing suffering, optimizing functions, and providing opportunities for personal growth.
The families are under much stress as their children are waning. The siblings are in urgent need of acknowledgement and for an outlet for their emotions. Our art workshops at Ryan House provide that outlet for them. Here you can see some of the results.
